To completely remove the ambiguity and confusion around cashless treatments, IRDAI has ordered all health insurers to build and maintain fully updated, geo-tagged registries of their network hospitals on their public web portals. These digital directories must clearly state the exact cashless facilities available at each location, along with real-time updates on any active de-panelment proceedings.
Additionally, insurers are now required to publish transparent, simplified step-by-step guidelines for clearing reimbursement claims at non-network hospitals. By standardising these disclosure norms, the regulator protects policyholders from sudden out-of-pocket expenses when a hospital is abruptly removed from an insurer’s preferred network without notice.
